Duck Pond Pinot Gris: (Oregon)

A perfect balance of fruitiness and acidity make the 2001 Pinot Gris a beautiful wine on its own or paired with foods such as salmon, shellfish and chicken. Oregon’s lush and mild climate is perfectly suited for the Pinot Gris vines, encouraging the slow ripening of the grapes and maintaining cooler temperatures to protect the acid levels. Pears, citrus and spice are predominant elements in this wine. (For those of you not familiar with Pinot Gris, it is the same grape as the Pinot Grigio.)

Llicorella Roureda: Spanish red

This excellent red has a "bright ruby color with black plum tones, jammy aromas of blueberry, spice and coconut, complex flavours of berries, licorice, and herbs with balanced, firm tannins on the finish." This is highly recommended by the staff at Grape Expectations. It is made with the Rhone grape, yet grown in Spain!

Indaba Chenin Blanc: South Africa

The Indaba brand was founded in the early 1990’s in conjunction with the birth of democracy in the emerging South African nation.

The wines embody the spirit of the historic changes that have swept the country over the last decade. The word 'Indaba' has many meanings in the South African context, but its original translation is derived from a joining together to discuss issues of importance. Tribal chiefs in South Africa would call their people together to discuss any issues that might affect the village or surrounding area, and an ‘Indaba’ would be held.

This little wine is a stunner! Attention-getting bouquet of Carmen Miranda fruits – ripe guavas, pineapples, with a hint of banana. Sturdy citrus fruits are country-fresh and crisp on the palate, and the wine finishes with a clean but lengthy finish.
